New Desktop Clients available and many new features released
Today we announce loads of new stuff.

There are new Desktop Clients available for Windows and for Mac OSX.
A lot of changes has been made in this release. Just to name a few: marking episodes for downloading (via a downloadqueue), downloading and syncing is much more reliable, settings can be done within the offline website, videoplayers are improved, and many more small issues which have been solved or added.
Download your free copy for free today.

We added a fourth tab to the site: "Offline", which connects you to your PodNova Desktop Client which you have running locally. Like this you can listen or view your content without being connected to the internet and without waiting for files to download.

We changed the site homepage as too many people thought that we are mainly a search engine. Which -obviously- we're not. Finding podcasts and vodcasts is one of the things we're offering, but it is mainly about making it easier to maintain your subscriptions, and playing the things you're interested in. Online and Offline!

The above also explains why we've added a new section within the Help Center in which we explain the core features of PodNova: Finding, Subscribing, Sharing, Playing, and Downloading.

For the people who use iTunes as their preferred podcatching client (instead of the PodNova Desktop Client) we've added iTunes specific buttons on the subscriptionspage.

Last but not least. We develop and facilitate everything for free, so if you want to show your appreciation and make a donation to us we'd really appreciate that and you can do so via your subscriptions page.

Thanks again to all our users!

ps: almost forgot to mention that the audioplayer now has a volumecontrol.

Brad Grier wrote an interesting article on how you can convert your blogposts to a podcast using PodNova in combination with Odiogo or Talkr.
Checkout the PodNova Channels he created using those services:

Alternative to the Desktop Client
Wesley Freyer wrote a nice tutorial about PodNova in combination with Juice. If you're dissatisfied with the current feature set of the Desktop Client this might be a nice alternative:
http://www.speedofcreativity.org/2007/05/28/the-joy-of-juice-receiver-and-podnova/

Also the Desktop Client now has a webserver build-in (a desktop webserver) which you can use to watch or listen to the downloaded pod/vodcasts.

New release PodNova Desktop Client 2.3.1
First of all I'd like to thank the people who have commented or mailed us with suggestions for improvement on the site and the Desktop Client. In the last weeks we've fixed some bugs and we've added new functionality. As a result we're happy to announce that we're releasing a new version of the PodNova Desktop Client today.

Major change in this version is that we've added an extra button "Play". This allows easier playback of files which you have downloaded already. You could use the build in Flash player, but you can also launch your (locally installed) preferred application with just one click.

Go to the download page to get PodNova Desktop Client 2.3.1.

OPML import fixed
In some rare cases the import of an OPML file was hanging which caused a lockup situation. This issue is fixed now, and the accounts where this occurred can give it another try.
Import your OPML file.

Popular episodes
In our initial release it was possible to (fraudulently) get episodes you wanted quickly in the highest ranks. We changed the rules and from now on it's a more realistic indication of what's popular right now. Check out the popular episodes.

Development update
It's a good week after release of our new site and client. We'd like to thank all of the people who took the time to respond via e-mail, or in the comments on this blog. We've fixed a lot of small bugs here and there and we're currently putting all feedback in perspective so we can make a list of improvements.

Most of you like our new site a lot, and the thing we got most critique on is the (oversimplified) user interface of the Desktop Client. Of course we will look seriously into these issues and how we can improve the things mentioned.

In the short term we'll be adding new hardware for quicker updates on all the Channels. Furthermore we're working on small movies where we'll explain core concepts of what you can do with PodNova.

Suggestions regarding functionality you want in future versions of the Desktop Client are very welcome, please leave them in the comments or send us an e-mail.
