False-Positive with Ewido anti-malware software
Today we received an e-mail from a user of the Podnova Desktop Client who informed us about an issue with the Ewido anti-malware software (http://www.ewido.net/en/product/) and the PodNova Desktop Client for Windows. The Ewido anti-malware software claims that the PodNova Desktop Client contains an 'logger.keylogger.jm' program. We can ensure you that this is not the case, the warning of Ewido is an 'false-positive'.

We can ensure you that the Podnova Desktop Client does not contain a keylogger program, spyware or some 'home-calling' functionality whatsoever. The only communication the PodNova Desktop Client does is the following:
  • Retrieving your feeds in the form of an XML file from the podnova.com site;
  • Retrieving the podcasts files from servers as defined in your feeds subscription.
As you know, the PodNova Desktop Client is licensed under the GPL, so the source-code (the program is written in Python) can be viewed by anyone. You can download the source-code from the following URL:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/podnova/PodNova-2.2-src.zip?download

We don't know why Ewido is claiming that the PodNova Desktop Client behaves like an keylogger program, this warning is certainly an false-positive.  You can use the PodNova Desktop Client without any worries. We will contact Ewido to get more technical info about the claim of their anti-malware program.
