Using PodNova under Linux
For over half of year there hasn't been any development in Juice. Erik mainly worked on PodNova, Andrew started to work for PodShow, and Martijn left the PodNova team and went to work for Sony. As a result nothing is happening.
As a founding member of Juice we've seen it as our duty to keep developing the client software. So, we forked from Juice and started to fix bugs, extending it and making it better suitable to work with the PodNova site. That goes for the Windows, Apple and -as we're strong supporters of Free Software- also the Linux version!.
There were some issues for people who use Linux:
  • people don't know we also kept developing the Linux client;
  • and the text in the online Flash player is not visible.
The first issue is somewhat better now as there is a link on the Juice site to the PodNova Linux version, so that'll give us some exposure.
You can fix the font issue by apt-get install gsfonts-x11. The fonts should be visible again in the Flash Player. In some forums they advice you to install more fonts. If you do it'll look prettier ;-)

Furthermore we're still very much hands on developing the next version of the PodNova site and client software. The new serverpark is in, installed and prepared. We will synchronize the release of the new site and the new client software (2.3). But don't hold your breath, it'll take more time to do it all good.
